Lawn Care - Residential

lawnYou work hard and deserve a great looking lawn to come home to enjoy. Our customized lawn care programs are built from the ground up. After a site analysis and soil test, we apply what your soil needs to give you a beautiful green lawn to enjoy. Your service program will ensure that no matter what has happened to your lawn in the past, our sensible services will improve your turf. We offer natural and effective ways to get the results you need.

Soil Test – The start of our effective lawn care programs

We will take samples from your turf on our initial visit (unless the ground is frozen or inaccessible for some other reason). We leave your house with around 12 to 15 samples totaling 2 to 2.5 cups of soil. With your consent, and payment of our $49 soil test fee, this soil is air dried and then sent to a testing facility for analysis. We will share the results with you, along with the service program we feel the soil needs dictate. If you have vegetable or flower gardens, such as annual, perennial, or shrub beds you would like tested, each additional soil test is only $29 per test.

If urgent action is necessary, for example an active grub or invasive weed issue or obvious low nitrogen, we will make an application before the results come back and take the application into account when planning the rest of the program.

This soil test, in addition to the inspection and survey, allow our team to get to know your property and your needs. If you want to do it yourself, here are some simple guidelines and a link to the University of Massachusetts Soil Testing Service.

Collect a sample of soil in a bowl using a small garden spade (or professional sampling tube if you have one). Sample about 12 to 15 areas crossing the yard. Mix the soil together, spread on newspaper to AIR dry (for best results do not try to speed up the drying process with an oven or torch). Then remix the dry soil and come up with around a 1 cup final sample. Then follow the directions from the University Soil Testing on how to mail and pay for your sample.

Additional Green How Lawn Care Services

To keep your lawn looking great and healthy, we recommend these important services for your yard.

  1. Aeration
To keep air circulating in the soil and minimize the effect of soil compaction, we recommend annual soil aeration on lawns. We use a plug aerator and always overseed after aeration with high quality grass seeds with moderate to high endophyte content (for information on endophyte enhanced grasses, click here (http://www.uri.edu/ce/factsheets/sheets/endophyte.htm)) for excellent resistance to common diseases and turf insects. You’ll be happy with the beautiful results.

  2. Overseeding (Slice)
For a beautiful lawn slice seeding and dethatching is an excellent way to improve your turf health. When we leave, your turf will look rough, an effect of the mechanical action of the thatch being pulled up and the slicing of the grass and soil to get the seed where it needs to be, in the dirt. The positive impact will be apparent after the seed germinates. We use high quality grass seeds with moderate to high endophyte content (for information on endophyte enhanced grasses, click here (http://www.uri.edu/ce/factsheets/sheets/endophyte.htm)) for excellent resistance to common diseases and turf insects.
